Daily Activities
Specialty Areas are taught by experienced personnel who are all certified in their area, teachers, nearing teaching certification. The are "camp people" who relate extremely well with children.
Swimming
Each of our two heated outdoor pools are staffed by certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors (WSI lifeguards). Children receive daily swim lessons in accordance with American Red Cross standards to teach the campers swimming techniques and water safety and also enjoy scheduled supervised free swim. Our certified staff utilizes personal flotation devices for those children still in their early stages of learning and for personal safety.
Arts & Crafts
Campers enjoy such activities as traditional arts and crafts, jewelry and bead making, creative crafts, ,painting and more. Older campers are also involved in drawing, and other advanced projects such as Macrame, T-shirt design and model projects. Our unique programs provide opportunities for campers to create their own individual projects and group projects that coordinate with our weekly special themes.
Nature
Campers learn about wildlife and conversation while exploring our natural surroundings located on 38 acres. Some of the other nature activities include exploration, craft projects using material from nature, appreciation of the environment, and collecting and identifying natural specimens such as trees, flowers, rocks, insects, and birds. In addition, older campers learn about proper construction of campfires and fire safety.
Music
Our music program elicits camp spirit and enthusiasm. Traditional HappyLand Day Camp songs and cheers as well as other popular children's songs are taught and sung throughout the summer. Younger campers enjoy music appreciation and instruction in rhythm and movement. The camp season culminates with a camp-wide show under direction of our music instructor.
Outdoor Recreation & Sports
Teamwork, fair play and cooperation are the cornerstones of HappyLand's Outdoor Recreation program. Our "skills oriented" program always takes into account the child's age, strength and exposure to each activity. We encourage each child to do his or her "personal best" in a supportive environment, while recognizing participation is more important than performance.
